Hi, thanks for your message. Due to Dell's appalling support, I have ditched their machine and persuaded them to offer a full refund. The replacement has Vista, so I am out of the Ubuntu loop for the time being.
I really would like to break away from Windows, but do not have the time to invest in learning my way around Linux without personal support. I looked for local classes but Linux courses only seem to exist for people who want a technical qualification. It seems to me that a computer based learning CD for people who want to make the switch from Windows to Ubuntu/Linux would be very useful. Status in linux package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I use Ubuntu 8.4 (Hardy Heron) Yesterday I lost my WiFi connection and was unable to restore. I rang Dell Support an hour ago and they said there was a problem in WiFi connections caused by an Ubuntu upgrade. I did download some upgrades yesterday shortly before I noticed the problem. Are Dell correct? If so, is a solution on the way?
