** Summary changed: - acer travelmate 4600 hang with 8.10 -> 9.04 + FIXED: acer travelmate 4600 hang with 8.10 -> 9.04
** Description changed: acer travelmate 4600 works fine with ubuntu 8.04 (testing period was very short ~10mins) NOT with ubuntu 8.10. Installing from cd Ubuntu 9.04 computer turns off at some random time during the installation process. When upgrading from 8.10 to 9.04 (the upgrade was fine) using ethernet connection the computer turns off soon after user logs in or even before logging in (when the login screen is on). Now I have 8.10 which freezes after some random time ~5 mins. + + Update: 31.7.2009, now with ubuntu 9.04 and + with the following /boot/grub/menu.lst + title Ubuntu 9.04, kernel 2.6.24-24-generic + root (hd0,5) + kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-24-generic root=UUID=3d33e82e-f6ef-4f95-a5e7-0239f61f6021 ro quiet splash acpi=oldboot + initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.24-24-generic + quiet + + With the same settings as above and kernel 2.6.28-13-generic the system swiched off, + so it seems that there is some bug fix between + kernel 2.6.28-13-generic -> kernel 2.6.24-24-generic + + Thank's for that!!! + Markus ** Tags added: acer fixed hang off switch travelmate ** Description changed: acer travelmate 4600 works fine with ubuntu 8.04 (testing period was very short ~10mins) NOT with ubuntu 8.10.
