Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: cups
Printing is not working for my HP LaserJet p1005. It is automatically
detected when I connect it (via USB), and the foo2xqx driver is selected
by default. When I try to print a test page, it appears to go through
correctly in the printer configuration tool - the Printer State goes to
Processing, the job shows up in the queue, and appears to finish after a
few seconds. Unfortunately, nothing ever happens on the actual printer.
No paper is fed through, and the data light never flashes. With the
hpijs driver, when I try to print a test page, the status goes to
Processing, the job shows up in the queue, but then the printer state
goes to 'Idle - /usr/lib/cups/filter/foomaitc-rip failed', and the job
status goes to 'Stopped' in the queue.
The generic CUPS-PDF printer does not work either. When I try to print
a test page, the printer state goes to 'Idle - /usr/lib/cups/backend
/cups-pdf failed'.
