I've had this same issue with the 9.04 2.6.28-13 to 2.6.28-14 update. I did the following to fix the issue:
Enabled the 'Alternate Atheros "madwifi" driver. Reboot. Not working Disabled the 'Alternate Atheros "madwifi" driver. Reboot. Not working Disabled wireless in the BIOS. Reboot. Not working Enabled wireless in the BIOS. Reboot.
