I provide the following additional information: !. After installing Ubuntu 8.04 LTS on my laptop, Dell Inspiron 7000, I found all functions working properly until I tried to Play a dvd using the default player Totem.
2. After loading the dvd in the tray the movie started automatically. I expected the movie to play smoothly with good sound. 3. The movie started playing with sound. The picture was clear. However, the movie starts playinf for a few seconds, halts for a moment and resumes playing for a few seconds, halts for a moment and resumes playing for a few more seconds. This continues in this same fashion until I stop the dvd.
