Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

Hi I recently upgraded my laptop to karmic. Since the upgrade audio
stopped working.

I'm blaming pulseaudio, because everything worked fine in jaunty with
pure alsa. I'm running pulseaudio 0.9.15-4ubuntu3

I don't hear any sounds at all. There is no indication as to why that
might be (no error messages) applications seem to think, everything is
fine (e.g. totem "plays" sounds fine, I just don't hear them). It seems
like some channel has been muted.

turning up the volume through alsa-mixer has no effect.

In syslog I see some messages that don't give any inidcation that
anything might be wrong:

Aug 1 20:44:51 eressea pulseaudio[2266]: alsa-sink.c: Increasing wakeup
watermark to 30,00 ms
Aug 1 20:45:11 eressea pulseaudio[2266]: alsa-sink.c: Increasing wakeup
watermark to 40,00 ms
Aug 1 20:45:25 eressea pulseaudio[2266]: alsa-sink.c: Increasing wakeup
watermark to 50,00 ms
Aug 1 20:45:55 eressea pulseaudio[2266]: alsa-sink.c: Increasing wakeup
watermark to 60,00 ms

I'm running an older kernel (2.6.29.4) because of problems with karmic
graphics driver (KMS).

I'll attach alsa-info.txt for further clues as to what might be wrong.

Thanks for any help in advance.
Felix
