Attempting to access a Garmin gps, while running kernel
2.6.31-4-generic:

gpsbabel -t -i garmin -f /dev/ttyUSB0 -o gpx -F track1.gpx
[ERROR] XSERIAL: Cannot open serial port '/dev/ttyUSB0': Input/output error
[ERROR] Cannot open serial port '/dev/ttyUSB0'
GARMIN:Can't init /dev/ttyUSB0

The same command on the same machine, while running kernel
2.6.28-13-generic, works ok.
