Public bug reported:

Why is it that in the GUI - Administration/Networking section of Ubuntu
Dapper Drake that the actual IP address 192.168.1.?? (the one that is
being assigned by my Verizon provided Westell model 6100 modem/router)
of the computer is not shown but instead some number that begins with
127 is shown ?

Is this by design for some security purposes or for some other reason ?

When I look at the information that is provided under the HOST tab of
Administration/Networking, I see the same series of 127 numbers for ALL
four (4) of my various computers. But when I do the IFCONFIG command at
the terminal I see the actual IP addresses of each of my 4 computers.

I am requesting that you consider changing the information displayed in
the GUI Admnistration/Networking section of the Gnome desktop so that it
can display the IP address as given by the IFCONFIG command.

Thanks.
