yes, I updated the system today and rebooted the virtual machine

install using ubuntu-9.04-desktop-amd64.iso
install VirtualBox Guest Additions with dkms

up to this point everything works normally

modify /etc/apt/sources.list for karmic

update and dist-upgrade (with a few apt-get install -f of course)

reboot the vm

connect through NXAgent (the test machine is not in my office)

go to preferences - apparences (in french) and you get a message saying that
the gnome-settings-daemon can't be connected to

send the bug report with apport :-)

I know this is a weird setup but my client wants to test thin-clients so
...
