Asac: regarding "the relative usage ratio of the four search places
mentioned";  remember the way in which this is being observed is
altering behaviour (eg. having broken the first-hit functionality of the
location bar, people learn not to use it---and so it won't be used).

A more reliable way to generate the desired data-set is by argumentation
of the browser and suitably anonymised uploads in a manner similar to
popcon.
