** Description changed: - Hi tried update manager... after putting in pass word I was told to run manually" sudo dpkg --configure -a". + Hi tried update manager... after putting in password I was told to run manually" sudo dpkg --configure -a". nothing happened. After looking in forums. somebody mentioned syntaptic package manager in Systems sub menu and found I needed to up date my system( sorry i forgot what happened next) ..but this updated successfully. Once this was completed, I went back to the update manager found I could continue updating my system to my relief being a complete novice. Restart was required to complete and that's when the said problem occured. After several reboots the system came back to life.....HEAVEN! Hope this is of help.
