Bug possibly related to bugid 295447.

Attempted to suspend and resume using a fresh usb persistent install of
Ubuntu 9.04 from livecd, no updates.

Followed the debugging guide
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend) and got these lines:
