** Description changed: hello there i'm not sure if it is correct to file this issue, because i have found similiar bugs in launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/355495 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/usplash/+bug/346028 but still, i get a different error message... but everything in order: i own an EEE 1000HV, similar built to the 1000HE, but with a dedicated Mobility Radeon HD 3450 i installed 9.04 with a live cd and updated the system after that i went to the hardwaremanager and it showed me one possible proprietary driver for my graphics card i installed it, rebootet - and crashed! the only thing i got to see was at first a "flashing" prompt shell which soon after changed into a green line on top of the display...or sometimes into a double blurred green ubuntu logo when i look into the Xorg.0.log (attached) then i find the Error "EE Invalid Video Bios Signature" normally this would meen that my graphics card is not supported, right? but i know people using e.g. a Dell Studio 1537 with exact the same card and they can use the fglrx (or even launchpad users: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/358064) i've tried to install the fglrx by: hardware manager synaptic shell prompt envyng ati catalyst 9.5 + 9.6 (installer as well as manually with craeting packages) is it a ubuntu issue? or an amd issue? or is it a netbook issue? or even a OEM issue? if you need any further logs or anything, please tell me cheers + + [lspci] + 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Memory Controller Hub (rev 03) + 03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series + SubsystemVendorID: 0x1043 SubsystemID: 0x836a
