I am having exactly the same problem using Kubuntu AMD64 9.04 on an ASUS U80A/U81A (Best Buy version). I suspect the problem relates to the fact that the upscale model of this laptop, the ASUS U80V, has a built-in light sensor that can automatically adjust screen brightness in Windows Vista depending on ambient lighting conditions. The U80A/U81A does not have this feature, though it still has the little sensor hole in the case and could very well have a disabled light sensor sitting beneath that hole.
I should also note that screen brightness adjustment does not work in ASUS' own ExpressGate instant-on operating system, which I believe is Linux-based. -- LCD Brightness doesn't change on ASUS U80A laptop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/411121 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
