The "timeout bug" mentioned above seems to be bug 412455. I don't agree
that this is a duplicate, though. The timeout is a failsafe, and
shouldn't normally be invoked. If we're going to use xsplash in UNR, it
should be fixed to be triggered explicitly when the desktop is ready,
no?
