i really need help with a similar issue. Im running ubuntu 9.04 and had
everything just way i wanted as far as cosmetics go using compiz. but
when i started trying to play fps games my graphics card wouldnt support
the games so i downloaded envyng to see if there was a driver agailable,
when i opened it there were x's over all the drivers (i assume saying
that none of them would help) but i tried downloading the first one just
to see if it would help and it caused my screen to just turn to lines. I
ended up having to reinstall ubuntu and now if i enable 3d cube or any
advanced appearance, my screen shrinks and the mouse is not where it
would normally be, for instance if my mouse if resting over a link and i
click, it will actually click a link about an inch farther down on the
screen. This is very upsetting for me because i'd been working on it for
a while to get it how i wanted it and now this one mistake seems to have
perminatly screwed up my graphics card (which wasnt great in the first
place but handled advanced compiz settings) is there any way of
uninstaling the driver and restoring the card back to the way it was? i
know this is a complicated post but i'd really appreciate any help.
thanks.
