I can confirm there are audio problems in Karmic. I have an HDA Intel ICH8 chipset and the headphone channel is muted after every reboot. gnome-volume-control's doesn't unmute this channel if I select headphones as the output. Unfortunately the headphones channel is actually chained with the PCM channel, so there is never any sound after reboot until I unmute the channel with alsamixer.
If I mute headphones from alsa-mixer, it also mutes master and gnome- volume-control recognises it is muted. If I unmute both from alsa-mixer, gnome-volume-control doesn't detect it and there is still no sound until I unmute gnome-volume-control (which must be a pulseaudio issue). Furthermore, totem always reduces the volume at start and end of playback... but that's the subject of another bug. In Jaunty, I run the 2.6.30.4 kernel. It has the same alsa-driver (1.0.20) as Karmic's kernel and hence detects the same channels as Karmic. The main difference is that it doesn't mute anything on reboot. So this is a regression in Karmic. -- [Karmic] No sound with jack output now with PulseAudio 1:0.9.16~test4-0ubuntu1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/409759 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
