I downloaded the herd3 Kubuntu feisty-desktop-i386.iso and tried it as a Live CD (not the installation). The bug is fixed. It boots up and goes right to the KDE desktop without any intervention (no safe graphics mode necessary, no boot parameters, no editing the xorg.conf). My BIOS is still set to AGP speed 8x (booting from the Edgy Live CD still causes a freeze).
(As mentioned above: My processor is AMD64 and my graphics card is "ATI Technologies Inc RV350 AP [Radeon 9600]".) Is this sufficient or should I also test the feisty-desktop-amd64.iso? -- [regression][rv280] black screen and console freeze when X starts - drm lockup https://launchpad.net/bugs/67487 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
