** Summary changed:
- Pulse audio queues audio!
+ Pulse audio queues audio and gets locked to the app PID
** Description changed:
Binary package hint: pulseaudio
After the recent updates , Pulse audio queues the audio playback rather
than playing them immediately.
- Eg: while watching a video , user gets an IM ping , the sound is played
- only after the video app is closed not even pausing the video plays the
- ping sound.
+ 1> Eg: while watching a video , user gets an IM ping , the sound is
+ played only after the video app is closed not even pausing the video
+ plays the ping sound.
This results in an inappropriately timed ping.
- This behavior is only after the recent updates and is a regression
+ 2> Another issue is while playing audio in Firefox , once the video/audio is
playback is over in firefox , the browser is not closed.
+ So pulse audio gets locked with Firefox and sound does not play in other
audio/video apps.
+
+ This behavior is only after the recent updates and is a regression.
+
+ Workaround:
+ $ pulseaudio -k
+ this command needs to be run several times, until pulse audio releases the
PID.
+
+ Do note , this might sometimes prevent you from playing audio/video in
firefox again,
+ -Keep running the command to get sound in firefox or
+ -close and re-open firefox or
+ -identify the video/audio in /tmp and play the file in an audio/video app.
