Public bug reported:
In 9.10, my speakers work fine. However, the headphone volume starts out
muted each boot. The graphical volume control application present in
older releases of Ubuntu does not appear to be installed by default. It
is necessary to run the command line alsamixer to unmute the headphone
volume each time my computer is booted.
