Hi Micah,

The reason that I have to run a kernel from intrepid on Karmic is that the
newer kernels stopped supporting my WiFi - Broadcom Corporation BCM4315
802.11b/g.

They also don't support my ethernet connection:
Broadcom Corporation NetLink BCM5906M Fast Ethernet PCI Express

I just installed a Live CD of Jaunty, then did an update-manager -d update
and although the first reboot, I couldn't use the latest kernel - because
the Broadcom STA driver wasn't found - and the computer looked to download
it - but of course with neither wifi or ethernet working, it could not.

But the second time I rebooted with an earlier kernel, the Wifi and Ethernet
worked, so I tried rebooting with the latest kernel and this time it worked.

If I install the Koala Alpha 2 Live CD, I cannot connect because the
Broadcom STA driver is not on the CD or if it is, it is not detected and
loaded. (Hardware Drivers reports that it must be downloaded).

So this is my only avenue to going to Koala. Use Jaunty Live CD, then
update-manager -d and reboot with an earlier kernel with the Broadcom
Driver, then reboot again in the latest kernel.

Thanks

David
