I recall that a GDM update seemed to fix the problem, and there were no reports of crashes. Now my problem is that I can't get into Karmic at all (bug 414034), except in recovery mode with networking.
Booting seems to be normal until the login, where I'm returned again and again to the login screen after entering my password. I have access to all the log files via my Jaunty partition but don't know what to send.
