We would need more information in order to solve this bug.
1. Which version of Ubuntu are you running?
2. Is it fully updated?
3. When you try to listen to sounds through the internet sites (I guess through
Firefox), do you have any other player open?
On top of my head, I would try to install this library, that proved to
help in situations similar to yours:
on the terminal:
sudo apt-get install libflashsupport
I am going to set this bug to incomplete (until we have more
information). However feel free to reopen it once you can provide such
information.
