This symptom is almost certainly a codec init race or probe failure.
In your original dmesg, see:

[    9.160018] hda-intel: no codecs initialized

Have you tried passing probe_mask? i.e., in
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, you may need:

options snd-hda-intel probe_mask=1

Note that the necessary mask value 1 varies.
