Can you expand on what you mean by "use tightvncserver instead" ?
Do you mean uninstall something else and replace it with tightvncserver?
If so, what is that something else?
Do you mean change a configuration file to point to tinghtvncserver? If
so, what configuration file?
Or something else?
On my 9.04 system using xrdp-0.4.0~dfsg-9, I also experience the
flicker. The system is a default install of Ubuntu 9.04 plus xrdp, and
it has several vnc packages installed:
