** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: hal

In 9.04 an update of hal broke wlan on my Dell Vostro 1320. An update of
hal solved the problem, but in 9.10 alpha 3 the problem appears again.

I'm not sure if the problem is exactly the same, but I'm also unsure of
what information from logs to provide. If you can point me in the right
- direction I'd be happy to supply more information
+ direction I'd be happy to supply more information.
+
+ In 9.04 the command
+
+ dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest=org.freedesktop.Hal
+ /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/dell_wlan_switch
+ org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.KillSwitch.GetPower
+
+ would return
+
+ method return sender=:1.0 -> dest=:1.75 reply_serial=2
+ int32 0
+
+ but in 9.10 I get
+
+ Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: Method "GetPower" with
+ signature "" on interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.KillSwitch"
+ doesn't exist
+
+ I can scan the wireless network with sudo iwlist, so the driver is in
+ place and working correctly.
+
+ When booting from a live CD the wireless works without any problem. Does
+ the live CD check for the status of the kill switch?
