Public bug reported: I posted this on KDE brainstorm (http://forum.kde.org/brainstorm.php#idea74928) and Arora bug tracker (http://code.google.com/p/arora/issues/detail?id=596):
After installing Kubuntu 9.10 and KDE 4.3 and running Arora, Arora recommends installing additional multimedia packages: http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/562/1arorarecommends.png Nice feature, but i would like to suggest to improve the way it does it. http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/3374/2listpackages.png Here it would be nice to have additional information about packages to install. Now it just says "For extra multimedia functionality select restricted packages to be installed". It should mention that Arora asks for this. http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/3669/3packageinstall.png As far as i understand here you cannot change much - this window is not manageable. But if it is possible - again indicate that the packages which are isntalling right now are restricted packages for Arora. http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/2097/4sucessfullyinstalled.png[/img And this window is really ugly. Again indicate what was successfully installed. After installing the packages and notifying about it there appears a notification in system tray recommending to restart Arora to get new functionality. I didn't manage to make screenshot - the notification closed too fast (it would be nice to track history of notifications and jobs). I think this notification should not appear if Arora is not running. And it should say what kind of new functionality (new media packages) it is talking about. But i would suggest to not make the notification. Rather put this information in the window which notifies you about finishing installing the packages: http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/2097/4sucessfullyinstalled.png ** Affects: update-notifier-kde (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: kubuntu -- Change the way Arora recommends installing extra multimedia packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/416818 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
