No particular reason for mentioning the code.lp.net URL, although it
seems like a more central place one can go.

There is a script called ./generate-pot-files.sh which will create those files
in po/*/template.pot. I decided not to put it in the Makefile since it doesn't
strike me as a build-time thing, but a project maintenance thing. I'm probably
misunderstanding what you are asking, though...
I am using automatic import and export for translations. Launchpad routinely
checks trunk for new pot files, and when that happens Rosetta gets updated.
Whenever someone translates something in Rosetta, it gets pushed to the
translations branch. Translations can't be merged, but the pos can be manually
copied over and pushed to trunk routinely. It could be kind of cool to do that
bit automatically, but then we may have a case of the machine being overly
helpful and merging in unwanted strings.

That is a strange error from gimp, since it is being run with -i -f -d, which
tells it to not worry about interface, fonts, brushes, gradients or patterns,
and the script-fu tells each command to run without interface as well. I also
can't reproduce it from trunk at this point (using a shell without access to
the display)... grr, that's troublesome :/
I added RUN-NONINTERACTIVE to everything I could in that script, just to be
sure. (I think I missed one but it never complained, and it definitely isn't
with file-svg-load).

At any rate, lack of a display shouldn't cause an issue.

Thanks for the stuff about dependencies! :)
