I use a Toshiba Satellite M40X-112 laptop with the ALDI/medionmobile UMTS stick.
I had a very bad system stability with Ubuntu 9.04 (you couldn't work with this
system). The UMTS Stick worked fine without any configuration. It was
recognised automatically by the network manager.
Because of the system stability I decided to give it a try to update to 9.10
Alpha. 9.10 seems to be a bit more stable than 9.04, but still crashs sometimes
during startup. Today I received some updates (incl. new kernel), perhaps this
will help.
Unfortunately the UMTS Stick doesn't work with 9.10. The stick is recognised by
network manager. I can establish the connection, but after less than 1 second
this connection is removed from the network manager menu. It doesn't help to
unplug and plug the UMTS stick, only system reboot helps.
Furthermore the loudness is always turned to zero after boot up.
The update from 9.04 to 9.10 removed my printer settings. It's a Dell 1320c
printer which I installed with wine and a XEROX driver. The printer doesn't
appear anymore, I have to reinstall it.
I don't like the new menu to shut down the computer as you have to click
several times to reach the shut down button.
