This is not a PA issue. Phonon needs to be configured to use PA as the
default if it is installed.
You can do one of the following:
Remove PA;
Change the audio/music preferences in System Settings > Multimedia to use PA
before falling back to ALSA hw;
Disable PA's autospawn with: echo autospawn = no|tee -a ~/.pulse/client.conf
