Andres,

The main difference here to bug 383756, is that here I cannot get sound
through my docking station headphone port at all: sound comes through
the laptop speakers only, whether or not the external speakers are
plugged in to the docking station port.

The other bug report (383756) reports that sound comes through _both_
the laptop speakers and the external speakers when the external speakers
are plugged in to the docking station port. In other words, the problem
is "only" that the laptop speakers are not turned off automatically when
speakers are plugged in to the docking station port.

To your other question... one of my own: how do I get hold of the latest
release of pulseaudio (1:0.9.16~test5-0ubuntu2) in order to test it? It
looks as though it's a part of Karmic. I'm running Jaunty, which
probably explains why I can't see this update in the update repository
(via Synaptic). Is Karmic the next release after Jaunty?
