Hello,
I cannot confirm the problem here, the queen starts on its color. I use
ubuntu karmic with gnome-games 1:2.27.5-0ubuntu1 and glChess 2.27.5.
It has probably been fixed already.

im no expert, but im pretty sure the queen is supposed to be on the same colour
of square as herself - the board is the wrong way round(i think)?
