gxine version 0.5.10-0ubuntu1
On a fresh install, launching
Applications > Multimedia > gxine
produces the attached error dialogue.
From a terminal (to see more details)
$ gxine
(gxine:5591): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_style_detach: assertion

lirc: cannot initialise - disabling remote control
lirc: maybe lircd isn't running or you can't connect to the socket?

- upgraded package libxine1 from 1.1.3-1ubuntu2 to upgraded to
