The problem, which Ubuntu engineers have acknowledged as being associated with a Jaunty's modification to the standard gui shutdown applet (the delay cycle), is that the applet functions which terminate a session end it with a beep from the tower box, and not the default or user-specified sound clip on the System->Preferences->Sounds "Logout" line. This issue has been reported by other users in forums, but no solutions have been offered.
