** Description changed:
Hi,
I've recently purchased a Sony Vaio TT11LN/B; it comes with a 3G modem
using driver "option" that's working like a charm in Karmic alpha 3 64
bit, but:
- 1. when booting without the battery inserted, I cannot even see the
- modem using "lsusb"; when booting with the battery on, it's detected as
- "Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0af0:7601 Option". I think it's a Globetrotter
- modem. This problem is not very important, as I only work without the
- battery at home, and I've got DSL...
-
- 2. I'm always able to get a working connection, despite the content of
+ I'm always able to get a working connection, despite the content of
/sys/devices/platform/sony-laptop/wwanpower show 0 or 1 (echoing works),
so I assume it's consuming battery power even when not used. This is
important, as I haven't been able to get anything lower than 12.000mW/h,
but my -died- Vaio TZ could afford 9.000mW/h...

+ -----
+ Updated 25/8/09: removed the problem "device not seen using lsusb when the
laptop hasn't the battery on", as it's hardware related (dmesg shows the usb
device is disconnected when I remove the battery).
