Dear Chriswcy,
Thank you very much for your great help. As I am new to using Ubuntu,
the error message was Greek to me and I was at a loss of what to do. In
fact, since I started using Ubuntu I have been reinstalling many times
whenever it crashed. Luckily this time I could use Ubuntu 9.04, kernel
2.6.28-13-generic. I shall keep in mind your advice until the error
reappears.
