I'd advise against installing/replacing any system files with an unknown
attachment. Since Lir has provided the link to a debian.org archive,
trying that would be less than ideal but if it works for you, so be it.

I installed gmdb2 and couldn't reproduce the problem with several
different .mdb files.

@Gianfilippo, can you provide an example file that lets us reproduce the
problem ?
