When you open the file you see the results stored in the file. Gnumeric will not recalculate automatically since you want to see what was stored. When you press F9 you are recalculating and you see the answer your current version of Gnumeric produces.
Are you seeing any changes on further F9s? After the recalculation in a current version of Gnumeric I see 2005-2006 in C6, 2007-2008 in D6 and #N/A in C7:D8. This all seems correct to me.
