I had the same problem with sbackup 0.9-1 on Ubuntu 6.06. The problem started after the upgrade in November 2006 from sbackup 0.8-1 which worked fine for me.
For a work around install sbackup_0.10.3_all.deb from Edgy from this link. http://packages.ubuntulinux.org/cgi-bin/download.pl?arch=all&file=pool%2Funiverse%2Fs%2Fsbackup%2Fsbackup_0.10.3_all.deb&md5sum=e1f7cf6770578231c3797f2eae3b0e49&arch=all&type=main Save to desktop and click to install, ignore warnings. It has new features and first fixed the broken backups from when sbackup 0.9-1 actually worked. I have tested this for manual backups, but not automatic ones. This should really be in Dapper backports. Alternately you can try to install sbackup 0.8-1. For some reason it was removed from the repositories so you have to download it from Breezy repositories. http://packages.ubuntulinux.org/cgi-bin/download.pl?arch=all&file=pool%2Funiverse%2Fs%2Fsbackup%2Fsbackup_0.8-1_all.deb&md5sum=a79c7df7f6250b1b720100cee90961b7&arch=all&type=main To install use sudo dpkg -i downgrade ./Desktop/sbackup_0.8-1_all.deb Then you will have to lock the version in synaptic. I only tested this to see if it would start. -- Empty past backup directory causes simple-backup to fail silently https://launchpad.net/bugs/78349 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
