I just realized that the Ubuntu-Mozilla-Daily pre-release version of xulrunner-1.9.1 was still installed. After removing it and re-installing Firefox-3.5 everything seems to work fine. Sorry for any confusion.
So, this is apparently a problem with the pre-release version of xulrunner-1.9.1 associated with Firefox-3.5.4pre which was reported in bug #419566 : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.5/+bug/419566 . Perhaps this bug should be marked as a duplicate and its package changed to reflect that it is a bug in the current Ubuntu-Mozilla-Daily pre- release version of xulrunner-1.9.1 . Lastly, one beneficial side effect of my having had the pre-release version of xulrunner-1.9.1 installed is that Apport did not complain about Firefox not being a "genuine Ubuntu package" which allowed a full crash dump to be reported. This may be a stupid question, but is there a method that gets around the above and allows one to generate a full report as in this bug report given a /var/crash dump file? Even though I could not get Apport to generate a crash report in bug #419466 enabling it did cause Firefox-3.5.4pre to dump core -- the only method I can currently think of is to run apport-unpack on the crash dump file and manually add the generated files as attachments to the bug report . -- firefox-3.5 crashed with signal 7 in memset() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/419980 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
