This bug happened to me on Jaunty only. On Hardy, I could get a higher resolution using displayconfig-gtk and choosing the right monitor from the list. I have an AOC Spectrum 7VlrA, which I could find on the list.
But on Jaunty things got much worse because displayconfig-gtk isn't available. I tried several times to get a resolution higher than 800x600. The most weird thing is that the highest resolution available with the nvidia drivers installed was below that: only 640x480. Nvidia-settings as root doesn't show better options and nvidia-xconfig tool isn't successful on recognizing the hardware and can't write a good xorg.conf. The only workaround I could do after so many tries was running a Hardy live-cd session and installing the nvidia drivers. After that I copied the xorg.conf and the ~/.nvidia-settings-rc on a USB drive and used on my jaunty install. This way I can get resolutions higher than 800x600. ** Attachment added: "my actual xorg.conf got from hardy live-cd" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/30994586/xorg.conf -- Nvidia FX 5200 doesn't work above 800x600 resolution https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/322870 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
