The bug could be unrelated and just coincidental to the 'hanging' problem that has now been addressed. However, as you are experiencing the same issues as me, please could you try running System-->Administration-->Time & Date. My settings for timezone are corrupted and cannot be reset, although looking at/setting them from the command line appears fine. Please let me know if you are also experiencing the timezone corruption issue.
