My guess is that the all-in-one printer provides an USB mass-storage
device interface for storing scans (I know some do, don't know about
yours) and something is going wrong there...
Maybe you can attach the last lines of dmesg after you plug the printer
into an USB port? (If you don't know what I mean by "last", just attach
all of dmesg output.)
