I have installed and uninstalled several multimedia software packages trying to
get all the major news media streams to work. Finally, I am down to Mplayer,
w32codecs and Flash 9, as installed from Firefox, itself. Every thing is
working right now except "Fox News" Flash, I get sound but no video. I am
trying to reproduce the "bug". I can't seem to make it disappear since the last
online update of Ubuntu Feisty Alpha 3. I am still working. My goal is to put
together a system that will "do", email, web surfing and word processing for
none geeks. I have been working with personal computers since 1975, even before
msdos, but only seriously with Linux since Ubuntu Dapper.
So, I don't understand much about the Linux program itself. I gave up on Red
Hat years ago.
I must admit I try all parts of Edgy and Feisty to see if I can put together
non Microsoft systems for
my non-geek friends.
