Thanks for your bug report. Digging into this I found that the file
/usr/share/xsessions/e-gnome.desktop does not have the full path to
starte16 in the "Exec" line. Subsequently if you could test the
following fix I would appreciate it. Modify
/usr/share/xsessions/e-gnome.desktop and change line 5 to read
"Exec=/usr/bin/starte16 GNOME". This may fix the issue.
