Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

On karmic sound don't works for me on hardware:
pa...@pavka:~$ lspci -s 00:10.1 -vv
00:10.1 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP51 High Definition Audio (rev a2)
Subsystem: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. Device 3290

pa...@pavka:~$ lspci -s 04:06.0 -vv
04:06.0 Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Video Capture
(rev 11)
Subsystem: LeadTek Research Inc. Device 6606
Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr-
Stepping- SERR+ FastB2B- DisINTx-
        Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort-

        Latency: 64 (4000ns min, 10000ns max)
Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 10

        Capabilities: <access denied>
        Kernel driver in use: bttv
        Kernel modules: bttv

After run:

pa...@pavka:~$ pulseaudio -k && pulseaudio -vv

and in second terminal:

pa...@pavka:~$ paplay /usr/share/sounds/question.wav
Connection failure: Connection terminated
Stream error: Connection terminated
pa...@pavka:~$ paplay /usr/share/sounds/question.wav
Connection failure: Connection refused
pa...@pavka:~$

So pulseaudio crash between two paplays. There is end of output from
pulseaudio:
