Thinkpad T21, 512Mb RAM, 40Gb HD, NetGear MA401 PCMCIA
Kernel version 2.6.15-26-686 on Xubuntu.
Running on battery.

With ACPI, Sleep (Fn + F3) just seems to shut off the screen. Suspend
(Fn + F4) will spin down HD and switch off screen, then moon LED lights
but others do not go out. It is possible to get caps lock light to go
on/off in this state. LSRBDA caused.

Tried booting with acpi=off. Kernel reports:
Jul 21 19:51:50 localhost kernel: [ 26.627772] Losing too many ticks!
Jul 21 19:51:50 localhost kernel: [ 26.627820] TSC cannot be used as a
timesource.
Jul 21 19:51:50 localhost kernel: [ 26.627843] Possible reasons for this are:
Jul 21 19:51:50 localhost kernel: [   26.627864]   You're running with
Speedstep,
Jul 21 19:51:50 localhost kernel: [   26.627887]   You don't have DMA enabled
for your hard disk (see hdparm),
Jul 21 19:51:50 localhost kernel: [   26.627914]   Incorrect TSC
synchronization on an SMP system (see dmesg).
Jul 21 19:51:50 localhost kernel: [   26.627939] Falling back to a sane
timesource now.

At end kernel reports:

Jul 21 19:52:00 localhost kernel: [  186.503938] apm: BIOS version 1.2 Flags
0x03 (Driver version 1.16ac)
Jul 21 19:52:02 localhost kernel: [  194.474164] hdc: drive_cmd: status=0x51 {
DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
Jul 21 19:52:02 localhost kernel: [  194.474266] hdc: drive_cmd: error=0x04 {
AbortedCommand }
Jul 21 19:52:02 localhost kernel: [  194.474301] ide: failed opcode was: 0xec

Sleep will shut down screen and spin down HD, but pressing keys only
brings screen back to life. Power off/on required to restart.
