I have the exact same problem on Karmic Alpha 4 but with the following

checked.
/sbin/ldconfig.real: File /usr/lib/libpangocairo-1.0.so.0 is empty, not checked.
/sbin/ldconfig.real: File /usr/lib/libpangox-1.0.so.0 is empty, not checked.
/sbin/ldconfig.real: File /usr/lib/libpangox-1.0.so.0.2505.0 is empty, not
checked.
/sbin/ldconfig.real: File /usr/lib/libpangoxft-1.0.so.0 is empty, not checked.
/sbin/ldconfig.real: File /usr/lib/libpango-1.0.so.0.2505.0 is empty, not
checked.
/sbin/ldconfig.real: File /usr/lib/libpango-1.0.so.0 is empty, not checked.
