Gutenprint updates exisiting print queues only if they are set up with te PPDs of the CUPS raster driver (cupsys-driver-gutenprint, entries with "CUPS + Gutenprint" in printer setup tools) and not with the IJS/Foomatic interface. So better use the CUPS raster driver and your print queues stay up to date.
