Hi there,
Okay so i've been having a bit of trouble getting anything higher than
9.4 to run on my laptop and I'm not sure why.
I upgraded from 9.4 to 9.8 by doing the following:

Then when the computer rebooted I got something along the lines of
"Ubuntu is now running in low graphics mode" and was given a few
options, to run in low graphics for this session only, to troubleshoot
the graphics, to reconfigure and one last one that I can't remember.
I logged in and my computer resolution was set to 1024x768 (it should be
1280x800 widescreen) so it was rather ugly. "Display" had no other
options than 1024x768.

Note: I have also tried the 9.5 drivers, which gave me more trouble than 9.8.
Upon boot, the screen froze on several purple and green ubuntu logos, wouldn't
let me into virtual terminal at all. Had to hard reset and drop down to root
shell, uninstall the ATI drivers using fglrx-uninstall.sh and then reconfigure
the xorg.conf file just to be able to boot back into the desktop.
Could someone please help me?

EDIT: It might also be worth mentioning that I have no "Catalyst Control
Center" in Applications menu like I did with 9.4.
This is the error I get when I run "sudo amdcccle" in terminal:
"There was a problem initializing Catalyst Control Center Linux edition.
